Gathering Light is an exploration of natural colour, contrast, and the way light seems to collect at the center of a form.
Longleaf pine needles dyed with turmeric create the basket’s warm golden field, while black and yellow Picasso beads and black and butterscotch waxed linen thread add depth and contrast. At the center, a polished stone is framed by two rows of beads: an outer row of silver-grey metallic glass beads and an inner row of smaller seed beads selected to echo the subtle colours with the stone.
